Collaborating to Make Life Easier

5 February 2019

Life truly is a race against time, 2018 flashed by so quickly. We are all so incredibly busy that it’s hard to believe we have already crunched our way through the first month of 2019.

Gasp! How many ‘new year, new me’ posts have you seen on Facebook? Can you honestly say you have achieved your 2018 New Year Resolutions? Has taking that gap year or purchasing a home reappeared on 2019’s list because you weren’t able to achieve it last year..?

Trust me, as a Financial Adviser, I have heard it all before! “But it’s so hard to exist, let alone enjoy life AND save. It’s IMPOSSIBLE! What should I do?”. Never fear, a Financial Adviser is here! People come to us because they are unsure on what to do next, how to tackle their current situation and need direction on how to get where they want to be. A common misconception is that an adviser simply tells you to ‘do this’ and ‘do that’. Don’t worry, it’s our job to provide a client with an array of recommendations and to collaborate in order to make a client’s life easier.

Okay, so you make my life easier – how do you do that exactly?

Let’s be Friends: The Initial Consultation

In order to get to our destination, we need to begin mapping out our journey. Therefore, that first conversation, where we get to know each other, is oh so important. Too many people save and invest money with no specific goal in mind. After we develop a strong idea of your financial goals – it is the role of the adviser to begin embarking on this exciting journey by creating a guiding philosophy to direct investment objectives and cash management to help smash that list of dreams.

Research…research….and…MORE RESEARCH!

Now we know where you want to be in 6 months, 1 year and even 5 years’ time. It’s our turn to buckle down and to get some research underway. Our next step is to spend time to undertake adequate research to explore the best possibilities to suit your current situation, the experience is about you and about maximising your opportunities to achieve your goals.

It’s time to devise a plan and to implement it

From the research process, an adviser will devise a set of steps and strategies to help you achieve your financial and lifestyle goals; this will be discussed with you before a clear timeline along with a strategic plan is put in place. We identify what changes you are comfortable to make and then we prepare all the documentation needed to make it happen. It’s time to WORK! Yes, I know it is not as easy as it sounds, but that’s where the beauty of collaboration comes into play. Financial Advisers are here to ensure you don’t procrastinate and don’t lose your eye on the prize.

What’s next? The monitoring phase

There is a saying, ‘nothing in life stays the same except change” and that is important to remember when following a financial plan. Life, the law and other circumstances force us to monitor and adjust this document and therefore it will be tweaked over time. As we make our way through the waves and motions of our plan, we will be holding your hand every step of the way to ensure every milestone is achieved organically and at your pace.

At each stage, our clients are kept constantly informed and updated. We believe in being completely transparent throughout the process so that the client is aware of their progression towards their financial goals.

Slow and steady wins the race, particularly the race of life. The point is to make your financial goals and strategies achievable and to gradually ease into your desired financial situation rather than jumping into something that may be challenging if implemented too fast for your comfort level and lifestyle restraints.

Make 2019 the year you work with an adviser and make your life a whole lot easier and those goals a whole lot more achievable!
